Milltown Water Heater Failure Leaves Behind Water Damage to Cleanup

A water heater can bring copious amounts of water damage to a Milltown home. The basement in this house had standing water that needed extraction. Fortunately, the washer and dryer were up on a platform and out of harm’s way. SERVPRO technicians extracted the water using both portable pumps and squeegees to ensure the maximum amount of moisture got extracted from the concrete slab substrate. Because of the porous nature of unsealed concrete, a combination of air movers and drying mats assists with the rapid reduction of any embedded moisture remaining. The process is two-fold delivering warm, dry air and using a dehumidifier to capture the moisture and port it away. Once dry, the techs cleaned the floors and used antimicrobials on the walls and surfaces to minimize the potential for mold growth.
