Avoid Fire Damage this Summer
Summer nights are some of the best nights of the year--with the smells of grilled food and the laughter of family ringing across the backyard, creating a season of memories. Unfortunately, the plethora of outdoor events and entertainment of the numerous guests sometimes eclipses a very prevalent risk: fire damage. With an average of 8,800 house fires starting from barbeque grills, fire pits and outdoor fireplaces, SERVPRO of East Brunswick / Princeton Meadows is here to provide some simple fire safety tips to keep your family and guests happy and safe!
- All propane and charcoal grills must only be operated outdoors.
- Keep the grill at a safe distance away from the home, deck railings and overhanging branches.
- Keep children and pets, as well as anything that can burn, at least three feet away from fires.
- Keep your grills clean of grease build-up.
- Make sure an adult is always present whenever operating outdoor fire pits and grills.
With July being one of the peak months for grill fires and barbeque mishaps, keep safety at the front of your mind, and ensure a disaster-free summer!
